- Believe in yourself without needing validation from others.
You’ve got a wonderful advantage. Because someone’s already done what you want to do — or something similar.
You Don’t Need to Figure Out What to Do or Where to Start Alone
So, find people who’ve achieved what you want — and whose values, behaviours and lifestyle you admire and respect. Then learn:
- The mindset they’ve developed and how they think about things.
- The knowledge, skills, behaviours and habits they’ve built.
- What they did and didn’t do — the steps they took.
- The mistakes they made and learnt from.
- The tools, techniques and tricks they use.
- Who they learnt from — and were inspired by.
Thanks to their hard-won wisdom, experience and expertise, you’ll be years ahead compared to doing it alone. It’ll still take focused action, hard work, persistence and patience over time to reach your goals. But, you’ll get there faster — and with less stress, overthinking and feeling stuck.
And don’t be distracted by advice from those who haven’t done the work themselves or don’t align with the vision you’ve got for yourself and your future.
Choose Role Models Who’ve Actually Achieved What You Want
Find people in person through coaching, training and mentoring opportunities. And para-socially through books, podcasts, blogs and courses. Then study, implement and practice what they do. Importantly, don’t try to do everything at once, choose one or two things to start with and once you’ve done those, add more.
This is called modelling. And it’ll change your life — especially if you feel overwhelm and don’t know where to start with your goals.
Plus, once you’re consistently doing what others have proven works — you’ll add your creativity and unique ideas to make it even better for you and uniquely yours.
