10 Powerful Ways To Improve Your Mental Health & Wellbeing

Journal. I think Pinterest and social media make journaling overwhelming. At its core, journaling is writing your thoughts and feelings on paper. So, don’t let perfectionism — aka not wanting to mess up your new notebook 😉 — stop you from doing this life-changing practice

Meditate. Scientifically proven to boost your mental health and overall wellbeing — simply sit down, close your eyes for a few minutes and watch your breath to feel the benefits.

Sleep More. Good sleep is the foundation of good health and wellbeing — mentally, emotionally and physically. So, aim to get at least 7 hours a night — and have a consistent time for going to bed and waking up.

Eat Healthier. The impact food has on our mental and emotional wellbeing is underrated. There’s a reason they say “good food = good mood”! If you put the wrong fuel in your car, it won’t function well — and it’s the same with your body.

Drink Water. Keeping hydrated by drinking 6 to 8 glasses of water a day is one of the simplest, easiest and cheapest things to improve your mental and physical wellbeing. In fact, you’ll notice the effects of drinking more water immediately.

Exercise Consistently. It’s common to hear the physical health benefits of exercise — like better weight management and being toned. But we hear less about the mental health and mindset benefits — like a clearer head and more energy. So, don’t just exercise to look good, exercise to feel good, too!

Go For A Walk. Research shows being outside in nature and fresh air makes us feel present, calm and connected. All of which contribute to better overall mental health and wellbeing.

Don’t Look At Your Phone First Thing. When you wake each morning, give your mind chance to feel good — and be at its best — by not looking at your phone for the first hour of your day. Try it for a week, and you’ll never go back!

Plan Your Day. Want to feel less overwhelmed and achieve more? Take a few minutes every evening to plan tomorrow.

Have Coffee With Someone. We all need to connect with others. So, make time each week to have coffee or lunch with your mum, a friend or work colleague. Even better, make it a regular weekly or monthly date!
