If you’ve ever felt guilty and frustrated not sticking to your healthy eating plan, you’re not alone.

That’s why in today’s blog post, I’m sharing uncommon healthy eating advice you need to know.

Keep reading to learn:

  • 2 quick questions you need to ask before eating healthier.
  • How to change the way you think.
  • A simple way to eat better without giving up your favourite foods like kormas, crumbles and Snickers!
  • How to look and feel good without restricting or depriving yourself.

Just before we dive into the two questions to ask yourself before eating healthier…

Let me ask you this…

What comes to mind when you think about eating better?

What does most healthy eating advice suggest?

Everything you have to give up? Like Chinese takeaways, meals out, carrot cake, Twix’s, salt and vinegar Pringles, caramel lattes, hot chocolates with cream and marshmallows…?!

If so, I want to encourage you to flip your thinking with these two questions:

Q1. What are you not willing to change?

Q2. What are you willing to change?

When it comes to improving your mental, emotional and physical health, I believe in sustainable habits.

You don’t have to stop eating your favourite things to be healthy.

Of course — whether you want to eat healthier to lose weight, improve your overall health, look and feel better, or all three — you need to change something.

The thing is though — contrary to popular healthy eating advice — you don’t need to change everything

This is what overwhelms us.

Instead, decide what you’re not willing to change — and what you are.

Right now for you, your Friday croissant, chocolate bar after supper, and crumble, if it’s on the menu, might be non-negotiable.

Like all areas of life, you have to choose what’s important to YOU.

So, what are you not willing to change?

And for the things you’re willing to change, can you make small tweaks?

For example, if you love your daily latte, gradually make it healthier. At first, you might swap your medium latte for a small. Then, stop getting caramel syrup. After a while, get black coffee with hot milk.

If you love takeaways, you might start by ordering less than usual. Then, swap every other takeaway for a supermarket equivalent (also a simple way to save money). After a while, Google “fakeaways” and try making your own.

Ultimately, you have to decide what works for you and your lifestyle — rather than what Pinterest, Instagram or TickTok says! Don’t worry we all think it ;).

These two questions are about making good decisions in advance that encourage you to eat well without feeling restricted or deprived.

When you know exactly what you want to change and what you don’t, you feel in control, which makes you and your life feel better.

DON’T KNOW WHERE TO START?

Eating healthier is about looking and feeling your best — mentally, emotionally and physically — and giving you the energy you need to live your best life.

It’s not about quick fixes, fads or diets. However, it’s hard not to be seduced by these things, isn’t it?
