Want to hear something crazy…?
Phil and I celebrated 18 years together on Saturday. 18 years!
And we celebrated in the most perfect way — for us.
It’d been frosty overnight, but felt like spring when you stepped outside. The sun was shining. And the daffodils were out.
So, after getting ready and having our usual overnight oats, Greek yoghurt and mixed berries for breakfast, we drove to the outskirts of Carlisle. Parked up. And walked along the river into town. Stopping halfway at a local coffee van to grab an americano and croissant for me, and a latte and Toblerone brownie for Phil.
We chatted about how grateful we are to have each other. The effort we’ve made over the years to grow together and create the relationship we have. And, what our lives might look like in another 18 years 😅.
In the city centre, we popped into the most traditional — has everything you need — pet shop. And Baylee bounced out happy with 3 bags of all-natural dog treats!
Lunch was alfresco — thanks to a gas patio heater — and an Indian, Mexican and Chinese taste sensation. Curry-inspired dirty fries and flatbread pizza. Homemade nachos. Sweet chilli crispy beef.
And as we raised our Merlot and Meretti to us and our celebration, something occurred to me…
Simplicity creates happiness.
Phil and I know what brings us the most joy and energy. A handful of things we love doing together. And we design our time off around them.
The world tells us to want more. Do more. Be more. But if we simplified our days, wouldn’t we feel better?
Less overwhelmed. Less heavy. Less stressed.
More motivated. More energised. More YOU.
