Skipping breakfast and your morning run. Drinking more coffee than you’d like to admit because you have no energy. Grabbing a Snickers at the petrol station on your way home. Ordering a Chinese and eating it mindlessly while watching Fool Me Once. Then staying up late because you can’t be bothered to get ready for bed.
Why do you do this? Because your brain’s designed to protect you. It’s doing what it should to ensure you survive. NOT help you thrive and be the person you want to be.
The good news? You can start upgrading your thoughts and behaviours instantly. Here’s how:
Remember you’re human. Then notice what your brain’s doing without judgment and negative comments.
Replace: “I wish I wasn’t so lazy and undisciplined” with: “I’m feeling heavy and stuck. What can I do to feel lighter and more motivated?”
Then listen for the answer.
For me, it’s usually a 5-minute action step:
- Writing all your thoughts on paper.
- Eating a quick and healthy snack.
- Going for a walk.
5 minutes can feel impossible when you’re stuck though, can’t it? But here’s the thing: If you do something — anything — for 5 minutes, those negative thoughts and heavy feelings start to shift.
Before you know it, you’re being a better version of YOU. Calm in your mind. Healthy in your body. Present in your life.
