  • Meal prep and plan.
  • Stop feeling low and worrying what people think.

  • Be more motivated, productive and focused.
  • Make more time for yourself. And your passions. Reading. Cooking. Crafting. Walking in the Lakes.

There’s a problem with your goals.

This week, I’m going to encourage you to try something different…

Why? Because your current goals focus on your behaviour — rather than the thoughts and feelings that lead to your behaviour.

So, instead of beating yourself up when you do something you wish you hadn’t, observe your thoughts. And write them down. 

For example:

“I’ll start again on Monday” 

“I don’t feel like it today” 

“I’ve not got the energy or motivation” 

“I wonder if they like me” 

“This is hard — why is everything so hard?”

How To Stop Negative Thoughts

Now you’ve got your thoughts on paper, can you see the feelings they create? Guilt, laziness, tiredness, frustration, insecurity. And how those heavy negative feelings lead to unhelpful behaviour?

How do you change that? By choosing to replace your negative thoughts with positive ones.

For example: 

“I’ll start again on Monday” → “I’ll do one small thing right now” 

“I’ve got no energy or motivation” → “I’ll just do 5 minutes” 

“I wonder if they like me” → “They’re my friend, of course they like me”

This thought exercise might feel silly, but to change your life, you have to do something different. And this is different 🙂

Plus, when done consistently, this simple tool will reduce the number of negative thoughts you have over time. And make it 10x easier to change your behaviours so you can reach your goal of becoming the person you want to be.
