It’s annoying when a cold brings you down, isn’t it?

You feel “urgh”, drained and sorry for yourself.

You can’t get things done, which makes you feel unproductive and behind.

Worse, you have to cancel plans you’re looking forward to — a meal with family, wreath-making with friends, or a trip to the Christmas markets.

In fact, do you know on average, you’ll get ill 2 to 6 times this winter?

No thank you!

That’s why in today’s post, I’m sharing 3 simple foods you can add to your diet in 5 minutes or less to naturally boost your immune system and fight bugs this winter.

After all, for years now, I’ve been interested in how food not only improves your health and happiness but can actively prevent, and even cure, illness.

If you’re a strong believer in natural health remedies too, keep reading to discover:

  • The quickest (and tastiest!) way to double your chances of fighting off colds.
  • 3 immunity-boosting foods no one’s talking about (even though you can easily add them to every meal).
  • A simple way to boost your immunity by 50% without expensive supplements.
  • 3 scientific reasons this quote is true: “The doctors of the future will no longer treat the human frame with drugs, but rather will cure and prevent disease with nutrition.” — Thomas Edison.
  • How to get the secret virus-fighting tonic I always have (rather than medicine) if I feel a cold coming on.

How to Naturally Boost Your Immune System — 3 Superfoods You Need

#1 — Boost Your Immunity With Berries

Everyone talks about eating oranges to fight colds and bugs. But did you know berries are actually the #1 fruit for fighting viruses?

One study has even proven that eating just 2 handfuls daily can double the number of natural killer cells (vital for rapidly fighting bugs) you have.

Now you know this — not to mention lots of other benefits including 10x’ing your antioxidant and vitamin intake — why wouldn’t you sprinkle berries on your breakfast? Or, have a punnet of strawberries or blueberries for your afternoon snack?

Healthy Tip: For breakfast, we use frozen berries and pop a bowl in the fridge each morning so they defrost overnight ready for the next day. Frozen are cheaper than fresh, can be more nutritious, and of course, they don’t go off.

#2 — Boost Your Immunity With Mushrooms

Ever heard of mushrooms’ ability to fight off infections? I hadn’t either.

I think you’ll also be surprised to hear just one cup a day — about a handful — is proven to increase your immunoglobulin (an infection and disease-fighting antibody) levels by 50%.

With that knowledge, why wouldn’t you sneak them into as many dishes as possible?

We add them to everything! Stir-fry, stew, spag bol, chilli con carne, pizza, pasta sauce, soup, roasted vegetables…

What will you add them to?

#3 — Boost Your Immunity With Garlic (but wait 10 minutes!)

In all those stir-fries, stews, spag bols, chilli con carnes, pasta sauces, soups, and roasted veggies…why not add garlic too?

Once you’ve chopped it, just be sure to let it sit for 10 minutes before you cook it. This allows allicin to form — an antioxidant, antibiotic and antiviral compound found in garlic that fights harmful viruses and bacteria to stop you getting ill.

Research also suggests that garlic helps reduce the symptoms of a cold — so if you get one, be sure to add some extra garlic to your diet to help you feel better faster.

MY SECRET IMMUNITY TONIC

To create a strong immune system capable of fighting viruses and infections, I focus on adding lots of fruit and vegetables — especially the 3 above — to every meal. And without a doubt, it stops me getting ill (97% of the time!).

This is how you naturally boost your immune system. Plus, eating healthier, fresher food makes you look and feel better in general — and who doesn’t want that?!

However, occasionally you need an extra boost. That’s why in a few weeks, I’m sharing my virus-fighting magic tonic with you. I make it whenever I or my partner, Phil, feel a cold coming on.

Its ingredients fight bugs to help you avoid those awful symptoms of a headache, runny nose, sore throat and fatigue — or, if they do appear, get rid of them fast.

Because remember, you deserve to feel your best not just this winter but always.
