Imagine this…

It’s 9.30 pm.

You’re on your sofa — relaxed and calm — about to head to bed and read. What a productive day.

You went on a walk first thing, ate a healthy breakfast and drank your coffee hot! You got all your work done before 6 pm, booked that holiday to Croatia, and even did 30 minutes of exercise.

While some women might see this as impossible, I’m here to tell you it’s not!

In this week’s post, I’m sharing 10 ways to free up 2 hours a day so you can start putting yourself, your health and your happiness first.

10 Ways To Find More Time

#1 Turn off notifications

Switch your Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and email notifications off. And stop being controlled by the outside world. Trust me, you won’t miss anything important. What you’ll gain? Calmness, peace and a clearer head.

#2 Plan your day

Take 10 minutes every morning to write down everything you want to achieve. It’ll relieve feelings of overwhlem and save you at least two hours of wasted effort doing “busy work” and feeling distracted.

#3 Close your email

Limit your email checking to 2-3 times a day e.g. at 10.30 am, 1 pm and 4.30 pm. Easier said than done (on average, we check our email 15 times a day!), but test it for a week, and you’ll notice a huge boost in productivity.

#4 Hide your phone

Every day, do something important to YOU before going online. Whether that’s exercising, meditating or journaling. I also recommend spending at least 25 minutes on your first work task before checking your email or going on social media.

#5 Stop multitasking

Let’s clarify something — we can’t multi-task! You can task switch — move back and forth between tasks — BUT it costs you. In mental clarity and time, with some tasks taking 50% longer to complete! So, do one thing at a time to feel better and be more focused.

#6 Do less

Every ambitious woman tries to do too much in one day. Myself included. So, experiment with committing to no more than 3 professional and 3 personal tasks each day. And you’ll have more time than you imagine for other things. The quote at the end of this post helps me with this.

#7 Take a break

Research proves after 45-50 minutes of work, our productivity drops without us realising. So, build both work AND break blocks into your day. E.g. 50 minutes on and 10 minutes off. This might sound counterproductive, but give it a go, and you’ll get way more done.

#8 Double up on food

Every time you make a meal, make extra portions. We make overnight oats for 4 mornings, lunches for 3-4 days, and supper for at least 2 nights. It saves hours. Plus, because you’re cooking less, it becomes much more enjoyable.

#9 Clean efficiently

Stop cleaning for the sake of it. We’re all guilty. So, for a few weeks, halve the hours you clean. Then, decide if you really need to do so much. Yes, your environment is important for your health, happiness and success — but so is having more time for yourself and your goals.

#10 Do 10 minutes

On average, procrastination costs us 2 hours every day. The reason? We don’t feel like starting. The best way to get unstuck? Just do 10 minutes. If you’re in the flow when your alarm rings, continue doing what you’re doing. If not, take 5, do another 10 minutes and repeat. You’ll get your work done faster than you think.

If you tried just one of these tips today, you’d get 30 minutes to 2 hours of your day back. Imagine what you could achieve…

  • Plan and book your holidays for the year
  • Meditate or journal to improve your mental health
  • Exercise more consistently and feel fitter
  • Meal prep and plan so you eat better
  • Look into hiring a coach to help you achieve your goals
  • Do more personal development to progress in your career
  • Read the stack of books on your bedside table!

Now, it’s over to you. Which will you try?
